Home mixers weren’t built for bread. We fixed that.

Ever tried to make dough in your regular mixer?

The results aren’t pretty: Clumpy texture. Stodgy bread. Overheated motors.

So, we took the same dough-making technology that professional bakers have used for decades and packed it into a countertop machine.

Introducing Ooni Halo Core.

Its secret? Spiral mixing.

In a regular mixer, a single hook chases your dough around the bowl — like someone trying to knead with one hand tied behind their back.

But in a spiral mixer, three synchronised attachments fold and stretch dough as one, replicating the precise and powerful dual-kneading action of a skilled baker’s hands.

The result: Stronger dough, softer loaves and a higher rise.

The Pharmacist Lens:

In martial arts, the most dangerous opponent is the one you never see coming. Chronic inflammation is exactly that—a silent adversary that operates beneath the surface, quietly sabotaging your metabolism, your energy, and your ability to lose weight. Unlike the acute inflammation that heals a cut or a sprain, chronic low-grade inflammation is a persistent, low-level fire that burns in the background, driven by poor diet, stress, and environmental factors.

From a pharmacological perspective, inflammation and obesity are locked in a vicious cycle. Excess adipose tissue—particularly visceral fat—secretes inflammatory cytokines that impair insulin signalling and promote insulin resistance . This means your body has a harder time processing sugars and fats, leading to excess fat storage and further weight gain . The typical Western diet, with its sky-high omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of approximately 20:1, predisposes the body to this pro-inflammatory state .

Clinical research supports the power of dietary intervention. A recent study found that adjusting the dietary omega-6 to omega-3 ratio to 5:1 significantly reduced body weight, improved metabolic markers, and modulated inflammation-related gene expression in a murine model of diet-induced obesity . In human trials, an eight-week reduced-calorie diet with a 5:1 ratio, combined with omega-3 supplementation, reduced abdominal obesity by 35%—compared to just 5.6% in the placebo group . The men in the omega-3 group lost an average of 4.2 kg compared to 2.2 kg in the placebo group . The message is clear: reducing inflammation is not just about feeling better—it's about unlocking your metabolism.

🥋 Black Belt Move
“The Omega Balance Protocol

f you want to take this to the next level, here is the advanced strategy: rebalance your omega-6 to omega-3 ratio to a target of 5:1 or lower .

The Protocol:

1. Daily Omega-3 Target: Aim for 1.8–2.0 g of combined EPA and DHA daily . This can be achieved through:

  • Food sources: Two servings of fatty fish per week (each serving approximately 150g)

  • Supplementation: A high-quality fish oil or krill oil supplement (check the label for EPA/DHA content)

2. Add Flaxseed: Ground flaxseed is a rich source of ALA, a plant-based omega-3. Add 1–2 tablespoons daily to oats, smoothies, or salads .

3. Reduce Omega-6: Eliminate or dramatically reduce industrial seed oils—soybean, corn, canola, sunflower, and safflower oils—from your kitchen and your diet.

4. The Capsaicin Strategy: Emerging research suggests that capsaicin—the compound that gives chilli peppers their heat—may reduce chronic low-grade inflammation by modulating gut microbiota and restoring intestinal barrier function . It works by reducing the relative abundance of LPS-producing bacteria, which then lowers inflammation and improves metabolic health . Consider adding a pinch of cayenne or chilli flakes to your meals—not just for flavour, but as a metabolic ally.

Patient Experience
One small change..

James came to me frustrated. He was doing everything "right"—eating clean, exercising regularly, sleeping well—but the scale wouldn't budge. "I feel like I'm fighting my own body," he said. When I reviewed his diet, a pattern emerged: he was eating "healthy" foods, but they were rich in seed oils—salad dressings, granola bars, pre-packaged snacks, and restaurant meals. His omega-6 intake was sky-high, and his omega-3 intake was virtually non-existent.

We made one change: replace the inflammatory oils with anti-inflammatory allies. He swapped his vegetable oil-based dressings for olive oil and vinegar. He added fatty fish—salmon, sardines, mackerel—three times a week. He started sprinkling ground flaxseed on his morning oats. Within four weeks, he reported something unexpected: "My joint pain is gone. I have more energy. And the scale is finally moving." His body was no longer fighting a silent war. The inflammation was receding, and his metabolism could finally do its job.

This Week's Drill: Identify and Replace

This week, your practice is to identify one source of inflammatory food and replace it with an anti-inflammatory ally.

Step 1: Identify Your Adversary

Spend three days tracking your diet. Look for common sources of excessive omega-6 oils:

Common Inflammatory Sources

Hidden in

Vegetable oils

Salad dressings, mayonnaise, margarine, cooking oils (soybean, corn, canola, sunflower, safflower)

Processed snacks

Chips, crackers, granola bars, packaged baked goods

Restaurant food

Deep-fried items, sautéed dishes, commercial sauces

Processed meats

Sausages, bacon, deli meats

Step 2: Make the Swap

Replace This

With This

Why

Vegetable oil dressings

Olive oil + vinegar or lemon juice

Rich in monounsaturated fats and antioxidants

Seed oils for cooking

Avocado oil, coconut oil, or butter

Stable at high heat, less pro-inflammatory

Processed snacks

Nuts, seeds, or whole fruit

High in fibre and healthy fats

2-3 meals without fish

Fatty fish (salmon, sardines, mackerel, anchovies)

Rich in EPA and DHA omega-3s

Vegetable oils in baking

Applesauce or mashed banana

Reduces fat content, adds fibre

Step 3: The One-Week Challenge

Choose one swap and commit to it for seven days. Write it down. Track it.

The One-Week Target

By the end of this week, you should have:

  • Identified one source of inflammatory food and replaced it with an anti-inflammatory ally

  • Increased your omega-3 intake (through food or supplementation)

  • Reduced your omega-6 intake (by eliminating at least one processed oil source)

By incorporating these tips and tricks into your routine, you can cultivate a happy and healthy lifestyle.
